Sometimes I wish I knew when to shut up.

I let pent up anger and frustration come out (unfairly) at the worst times. And against the worst people.

I wish I knew how to let it all go, how to see the bigger picture, how to take the cosmic view of life.

But I don’t.

Sometimes I wish I knew when to shut up.

I’m tired.

Tired of all the bullshit associated with people using religion to justify their choices and actions.

Look, if you’re a good person, then be a good person because you want others to treat you the same way you treat them. Don’t hide behind a book, or a god, or a theory. Just do it because it’s RIGHT. Not because of what someone *might* have said 2000 years ago.

Conversely… don’t fall back on that same book or words to deny someone basic human rights, claiming that “the Bible says” or “the word of God” says. That’s bullshit, and it’s a cop out. It’s a crutch used by people who don’t want to think for themselves, and don’t want to have to deal with the consequence of their actions. It’s a prop used by politicians who have NOTHING in common with anyone, to try and make some sort of stand.

It’s all bullshit.

If you want to live your life, bound by some writings you cherry pick from in order to decide how to treat others, then don’t be surprised when you get called out on it. 

All I know is that I want to be treated fairly. So that’s how I treat others. I want my children to be treated fairly, and with dignity - I don’t want ANYONE to ever look down on them and view them as second class because of who they are. 

That’s how I live my life, and want them to live theirs. 

If you want to be a good person, make that YOUR choice. And if you want to deny someone basic rights, and treat them with disrespect, make that YOUR choice too. Don’t have a weak excuse. Own up to it.
